Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher tells the true story of brothers Mark and Dave Schultz, Olympic champion wrestlers sponsored by multi-millionaire John du Pont. The film stars Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo, and is said to be a chilling drama that takes a dark turn paralleling du Pont’s intense paranoia.
Though the movie hits theaters on November 14th, it’s already generating some serious Oscar buzz.
Sports Studio worked tirelessly with Costumer Ed Hanley to provide the film’s sports wardrobe. We supplied the USA Olympic wrestling singlets and warm up jump suits, as well as all of the Team Foxcatcher and generic wrestling singlets seen throughout the movie.
Many of the countless sweats that come with the territory, including sweat shirts, sweat pants, sweat shorts, and sauna room apparel were also our doing, just like the wrestling headgear and boots.
We even sent soccer, basketball, and track gear to double as performance wear for the athletes.
Quite a bit of customization went into the making the period Olympic and Team Foxcatcher uniforms. While we screen printed the red and blue USA singlets, we were also responsible for the custom transfers on the scarlet Foxcatcher singlets. Additionally, we custom embroidered the patches seen on left chest of the Team Foxcatcher warm up suits, as well as embroidered the satin gold jacket Steve Carell wears in the film.
Although we’re still waiting for the movie to hit the silver screen, you can see some of our work in the photos below.
