Although we have been around as Sportsrobe for 40 years, some things can still make us feel old. Here’s one that did:
Angels in the Outfield.
Hitting the big screen all the way back in 1994, this Disney Classic features a post-Back to the Future, yet still much younger Christopher Lloyd and a PG-rated version of Lethal Weapon star, Danny Glover. Feeling older yet? What about a shirt-wearing Matthew McConaughey, prior to becoming a Romantic Comedy Superstar? Or what about a pre-Oscar Adrien Brody? Tony Danza, anyone?
And if all of those names aren’t making you feel like time has flown by, well here’s the nail in your coffin, so to speak. The movie’s star is none-other than a very diminutive, but very recognizable Joseph Gordon-Levitt. After years of growing up in front of our eyes on 3rd Rock from the Sun, Gordon-Levitt has struck silver-screen success as an adult in 500 Days of Summer and Inception. Look out for the all-grown up actor in his newest comedy 50/50 with Seth Rogen due out September 30th.
But just yesterday, while pulling wardrobe for a Chevy commercial in the warehouse, we came across these seeming time-capsule-preserved baseball jackets from the film, worn by Gordon-Levitt and co.
From the California Angels, to the Anahiem Angels, to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and a World Series Title in 2002, it’s clear that it’s not only the actors who have change since the film’s release.
So if it’s been some time since you’ve sat down for this kids’ sports movie classic, take 102 minutes out of your day and watch it. You might just remember a younger you. Hey, it could happen.
