Nascar on Fox: Dick Berggren’s Retirement

Nascar isn’t in our regular sport viewing plans, but two weeks ago we made it a priority.

About a week before the race at Dover, our friends over at Fox Sports, who we work with regularly during the NFL season, called us with a request that piqued our interest.

They wanted us to make hats. Fine, we can do that. But these weren’t ordinary caps, these were those hats that old newsboys wore. You know the hat that James Cromwell wears in Babe, those hats that Samuel L. Jackson is always wearing. According to Wikipedia, you may also know them as the Baker Boy, Apple Cap, Eight Panel, Cabbie, Jay Gatsby, Fisherman’s Cap, Pageboy and Lundberg Stetson.

Anyway, you get the picture. If you still don’t, you will soon.

So they needed 15 of these hats with custom embroidery and a patch for what we thought was to be a spoof of their very own pit reporter Dick Berggren, who has made the newsy part of his trademark look. As it would turn out, contrary to our assumption, the hats were a tribute to the longtime reporter’s last race before retiring.

And a tribute it was, as every Fox reporter shown during the broadcast was wearing one of the Berggren signature caps, customized by Sports Studio.

For all of your custom sports needs, don’t hesitate to call us. Because as this jobs shows, even if we don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, we’ll do our best to make it happen.
