Sports Studio Marketing: GoPro and MLS Case Study

In the Fall of 2013, the MLS launched the #WatchTHIS campaign during the MLS Cup Playoffs. Already utilizing traditional broadcast advertising and a full social push, the MLS commissioned a street artist to design 50 custom game balls to send to influencers.

This is where we came in. Sports Studio was asked to help find influencers from our end of the Earth– where sports meet entertainment.

We sent a couple balls to influencers around the industry, but then we decided to do something different.

We called some of our contacts at GoPro with an idea: shoot a homage to the iconic 1998 Nike commercial of the Brazilian Soccer Team stuck in an airport. This time, in the GoPro Offices. The guys at GoPro loved it and the rest is history.
