Super Bowl 51 is now over, but everyone’s still talking about this year’s advertisements. One brand that tried something new was Tide. They came out with an ad that was meant to surprise viewers and make them believe the comedic scenario was happening live on Fox during the game.
Sports Studio started working with Procter and Gamble a few months ago to prepare for this spot. The two Super Bowl teams were not determined until a couple of weeks ago, but filming began prior to that in order to give the production team enough time to edit. They filmed right before the NFC and AFC championship games.
We provided Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide, Team Epic, Rattling Stick, and Traktor with New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Green Bay Packers uniforms, in order for the spot to be filmed 4 different ways to anticipate the 4 possible Super Bowl match ups.
Check out the spot that aired during the game below:
This Tide spot featured Terry Bradshaw, Jeffrey Tambor, Rob Gronkowski and Tide’s newest PODS Plus Downey.
Along with the full NFL uniforms, Sports Studio provided the football helmets, Nike Vapor Jet 2.0 gloves, football cleats, compression shirts, shoulder pads, thigh pads, knee pads, and football socks. We also provided full football coach attire and complete football referee sets. These outfits include pants, shirts/jerseys, shoes, socks, belts and hats. To create an authentic football scene, we provided football sideline vests, NFL chain gang uniforms, and ball boy uniforms.
In addition to providing wardrobe for this Super Bowl commercial, Sports Studio casted athletic actors, tech scouted before the shoot, and even went on set to dress the athletes and coordinate the football plays.
