The Evolution of the Football Cleat | My Cause My Cleats

For the first time ever, the NFL is allowing players to wear customized cleats during their week 13 games. There will be no fines, just lots of creatively designed shoes. The campaign is called “My Cause My Cleats” and over 500 players are participating. Each player is allowed to wear cleats showing support to any charity they are passionate about. The point of this campaign is to help raise awareness for different causes across the country.

After each game, the players can donate their shoes to be auctioned off and the money raised will be donated to their specific charity.

Take a look at some of the designs below:

The NFL and football in general, have come a long way over the past century. Because the NFL is focusing on football cleats this week, we wanted to take you through the evolution of the football cleat starting from the 1920s.

From wooden spikes to plastic soles. Watch the video below:

Here at Sports Studio we have a large inventory of football cleats from every era. We’ve worked on period football movies like Leatherheads covering the 1920s to Remember the Titans that takes place in the 1970s. Click here to see to what other films we’ve worked on.
